As of late

The last few weeks have been a lot of fun. We are back in Hawaii, Tyson is back in school, and I have a new job as an Internal Compliance Auditor for Byuh. We love our tiny little studio apartment and have had a lot of fun with friends out here lately.

Tyson has been surfing a lot lately and has been having a blast.
Although I'm not really a "beach person" he likes to drag me along to take pictures of him ;)

This is one of Tyson and his friend catching the same wave.
If I remember correctly, this one didnt end well haha

My cute tired-out husband

Somehow I got talked into spending our Saturday watching the Phillies game at Buffalo Wild Wings
(or "B-dubbs" haha)
The food was great and the place was packed with screaming fans (of course the majority were watching a football game, but it still added to the excitement!)

It was such a beautiful day to be in Honolulu!
And see that water behind Ty? Yeah... I slipped and fell in it about 2 min after taking this picture ;)

My friend Allie and I making dinner on a Sunday.
A few of us get together every once in a while to have Sunday dinners. Lots of fun :)

This is in our little studio.
Just compare our tans. And this was when he was white.

Summer Recap

I always have such good intentions of updating our blog...but then I forget and it never gets done. However, this summer absolutely flew by. Tyson and I spent this summer in Pennsylvania where we both worked at Raven's Claw Golf Course. Tyson's parents were wonderful and put up with us for the entire summer. It was really nice to get to know Tyson's family better and enjoy Pennsylvania.

Tyson's sweet mother made me a delicious cheesecake with an oreo crust (which is my favorite!)
to celebrate my birthday the night we flew in.

Tyson and his dad caught 2 little turtles that we kept as pets on the kitchen counter...
While RaeLynn was out of town of course. This one's name was Snap!
He liked to eat hot dogs and leftover easter ham.

My stud husband caught a big ole' fish.
He was quite proud of it.

Tyson was not so happy when one of his "pet" fish from the pond outside died.
His mom had to help him clean it out...
he wasn't super sure what to do ;)
What would we do without mothers??

The 3 of us outside the ball park
These pictures were at the Phillies game we went to for
Tyson's 23rd birthday!
We had great seats and even though it was crazy-hot outside, we had a really good time.
We were lucky to have Tyson's brother, Brandon, in town to celebrate with us.
All 3 of us left with some nasty sunburns that afternoon.

This is where Tyson spent most of his summer: behind the desk at Raven's Claw.
He was the Assistant Golf Professional there.
He was able to give lessons all summer and he loved every minute of it ;)

These are from of our dates we went on.
We went to the Movie Tavern and saw Crazy Stupid Love.
It was so cool because they serve you dinner while you watch the movie!
I had never been to a place like that before.
The food was good and the movie was cute!

Tyson had his 5th knee surgery this summer.

This is Tyson in the recovery room after the surgery.
He was SO out of it...
He went in to get his torn meniscus repaired..which is minor in comparison to some of his other surgeries
But they ended up removing his entire medial meniscus in his knee.
He's still not happy about that because that will most likely cause him to have a total knee replacement
much sooner in life :(  It also causes him to have to wear a cumbersome brace when he is being active...

This is a few days after surgery when we were cleaning the incisions.
It's crazy how far modern medicine has come to allow them to perform his entire surgery through those 2 little incisions.

A week or so after his surgery we drove back up to the out-patient hospital in Dansville, PA
to get his stiches out.

Since we were close to where Tyson grew up,
he got to show me around.
I got to see where he used to live, where he went to school, and of course the various
golf courses, gymnasiums, and soccer fields he used to compete at.
Sometimes it's nice to relive the glory days ;)
And of course we had to go get some icecream at The Freeze!
Unfortunately it was storming the whole time
so we ate it in the car.

On our way back to Hawaii when the summer was over we stopped in AZ for a week.
It was nice to see my family again!
Tyson spent the entire trip with my brothers and dad...
doing "boy stuff"
This is Tyson and Ben shooting in the desert.
Isn't he cute?
All-in-all this was a really good summer.
Of course, I left out about 95% of it...but I still havent gotten the hang of remembering to photograph
our life.

My Oregon Birthday!

Thanks Ashley for the pictures!

On our way from Hawaii to Pennsylvania we stopped in Portland, Oregon to visit Tyson's brother Justin, his wife Ashley, and their cute kids Zach and Kate. We only got to stay a few days but we had a blast. We got to play with the kiddos a bunch and get some dental work done by Dr. Justin Marostica :) Plus, I celebrated my birthday with them! We went out to dinner at Macaroni Grill (Yummy pasta & cheesecake!). It was sad to leave cuz the kids seemed kinda upset but hopefully we get to see them soon so that they don't forget us! It really was too much fun being called "Uncle Tyson & Aunt Jayne" lol!

Chicago!

A few weeks ago I had the chance to go to Chicago for the first time! I got to go to participate in a Political Science Conference there. I presented a poster describing a paper I had worked on the entire semester. I went with one of my professors and a few other students. Lucky for us, there is a lot of things to do in Chicago in addition to attending the conference. We ate at some really great restaurants (and some not so great ones lol). We also shopped A LOT and visited some museums and land marks. Even though it was SUPER cold, I had a ton of fun and enjoyed being a tourist in a new city.

Graduation Flashback

My mom emailed me some pictures from my graduation last December and I figured I would take a step back in time and blog about it. Graduation was way fun. It was like that one big finish line saying I didn't  have to go to any more formal schooling if I didn't want to. It was kind of nice knowing I didn't have to go home and write papers or study for tests again, at least for now.
I remember looking around at graduation and being kinda disappointed that I didn't know very many people, but I guess that's how it is in college. Now that I mention it, it's not like I really knew that many people at my high school graduation either. I had already finished my first semester at BYU-H by the time I walked in my high school graduation. Gosh I hated that night. ANYWAYS, graduating from byu-hawaii was nice. My mom and sister, Rachelle, flew out to be here; and of course I had Tyson there too! Elder L. Tom Perry came out to speak at the graduation ceremony and it was great to be in the presence of an apostle. I even got to shake his hand!
Plus, I got some great leis! I love that about graduations...especially here in Hawaii. Everyone ends up drowning in flowers. It's really nice. Tyson's parents even sent me a fresh lei all the way from Pennsylvania :) The whole day I just felt loved and I was just happy to be done! Oh! and I graduated with my bachelor's degree in political science... K here are some pics:

I've decided that NOBODY looks good in a graduation cap...haha

Winter Ball

Tyson surprised me and asked me to go to the byu-h winter ball. I was especially excited because I love dances but Tyson hates them...so i never thought he would actually take me to one, epecially after we got married and he stopped doing things to try to impress me ;) But we went last night with our friends Camille and Kent. And we had a blast.
The ball was held at the Polynesian Culture Center, which is right next to our campus. First we had dinner. It was buffet-style and we had salad, steak, grilled chicken, steamed asparagus, coconut rice, and these mini pastries. (Okay so the mini pastries were probably dessert, but we ate them throughout the meal ha)

Throughout dinner a live band played jazz music and Norah Jones-esque music. It was lovely. Once dinner was cleared we made our way to the dance floor and Tyson allowed me to dance about ten minutes before he decided that we needed to go watch the movie that they had playing at the IMAX theater in the PCC. After the movie, (Which was Just Like Heaven, with Reese Witherspoon...love her) we went back to the dance a few songs before calling it quits and walking home.
It was a really fun night altogether! Here are a few pictures from the night:

Camille and I both decided to wear long Hawaiian-ish dresses

Gonna Miss It!

Tyson and I are looking for an apartment to live in for next fall semester. Right now we are living in TVA, which is byu-hawaii's on-campus married housing. It's been nice because it is super cheap (in comparison to living off-campus) and it has everything we need. BUT to keep our spot in TVA Tyson would have to go to school at least 2 of the 3 summer terms. We are going to Pennsylvania for the summer and Ty is going to none of the terms...so we are losing our spot and have to live off-campus next year. Honestly, I was kind of excited about this...until I actually started looking for places to rent. Everything is sooo expensive. To rent a place that is comparable to our apartment now, we would have to pay literally TWICE as much as we are paying now. Maybe we'll find a miracle place that is decent and wont make us go broke. *fingers crossed*

Our kitchen!
Our living room!
Haha looking at it, it's not much, but it's kinda what we get for wanting to live in Hawaii ;) I honestly can't wait until we live on the mainland for reals and I can decorate our home because I really can't justify buying any cute decorating shtuff because we are leaving permantly in a year and I'll either have to ship it...or get rid of it. Both options don't seem worth it... SO as of now, our cozy little home is a little (really!) boring. Still gonna miss it tho!
PS. You see that lamp that made it's appearance in both pics? Tyson hates that pink lamp. Which is why I keep it.

New Haircut

On Sunday I decided I wanted to cut my hair. Kinda out of the blue, but I thought a change might be nice. So Monday comes and I go down to the only place in town that does haircuts and I tell the lady I want my hair cut to my shoulders. I was thinking she would cut like 5 or so inches off. But no, she starts hacking away at my hair and I have to bite my lip to keep from crying as I just watch my hair fall to the ground. It ended up being about to my chin. I went home and straightened it (while crying of course) and I kinda curled it under. I think it made me look a little too much like Justing Bieber, sooo probably not doing that again. Today I decided to try something new...I kinda thing it turned out like Alice from Twilight. haha Oh well, what can you do right?

Ha this is Alice from Twilight....You kinda see where Im comin from right? Anyway thats what it made me think of.
